We say goodbye...and hello
Staffing
Dale Street Staff held a retirement ceremony for four teachers who will be leaving for last time with the students on June 25th. We honored Ann Kristof, 38 years; Teri O'Brien, 29 years; Janice Olson, 41 years; and Joe White, 22 years of service. This represents 130 years of dedicated service to well over 3,250 Medfield students. The number years alone is staggering in and of itself. What is truly remarkable is that these dedicated professionals worked for one district. I think this speaks to the community as well as these individuals. Medfield is truly a unique and special place. We laughed and cried and spent a wonderful time knowing that we will not be able to replace these individuals. We wish them all the very best and a good rest too. they have given so much to the children and staff here. Now it is time for them to enjoy themselves. We look forward to hearing about all of their adventures.
Alas, we were able the find four individuals who will help Dale Street continue to grow in their stead. I would like to take a moment to introduce them to you:
Leanne DePisa will be joining the Dale Street staff from Wheelock. Leanne will be staring her fourth year in Medfield. We are excited to have her join us. She will be a fourth grade teacher.
Kelly Bertschmann is currently covering a leave replacement in fifth grade as a special educator. She grew up in Sherborn and has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and just completed her Master's in Special Education. Ms. Bertschmann will be joining our staff as a fifth grade classroom teacher.
Shannon MacDonald holds her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a master of Science degree in Literacy and Language. She has taught first and second grades as well as having two years experience with fourth and fifth grade literacy. Ms. MacDonald will be a fifth grade teacher next year.
Meghan Krauss will be joining the fourth grade team of teachers. Ms. Krauss has experience in fifth grade and in fourth grade. She has her Bachelors in Elementary Education and will complete her Master of Education in December with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language.
As you can see, all four teachers are highly qualified with complementary strengths and ready for the challenge of shaping young minds into lifelong learners. We are excited to be working with them next year.

Transition Day
Today you will receive your child's placement letter. A great deal of thought and effort has gone into creating balanced classrooms. We greatly appreciate teacher and parent input into this process. Tomorrow all of the classroom teachers for next year will be here to welcome students, even our newly hired teachers. Transition day is an experience that I only had the pleasure of watching last year for the first time. It is a wonderful way to ease into summer without the anxiety of "Who will be my teacher?" We are looking froward to a great "first \' day tomorrow as we step up to the next grade.
Class lists will be available in the Dale Street lobby on June 27th at 3:30 pm.
